Boots Riley once again proves himself to be a true original with the hilarious, surrealist satire I LOVE BOOSTERS, the Opening Night Film of the 2026 Seattle International Film Festival.
Colors burst onto the screen as soon as the film starts. The maximalist visual aesthetic highlights the extremities of the political system it criticizes.
Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, and Eiza González are all brilliant. LaKeith Stanfield, Demi Moore, and Will Poulter fully embrace larger-than-life characters to side-splitting results.
As expected, the soundtrack did not disappoint. I was bopping in my seat to the songs and the score by Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner of tUnE-yArDs, who previously worked with Riley on Sorry to Bother You and I’m a Virgo.
I Love Boosters will be in theaters on May 22.
