Watching Obsession has to be the best medicine for unrequited love. Curry Barker’s horror movie is by turns unsettling and terrifying.
A film about longing and desperation radiating this level of danger from start to finish is something I don’t think I have witnessed before. Inde Navarrette is phenomenal committing herself 100% to the role. We will be seeing stills of her from the film for quite a while.
Sound and score are used strikingly and accentuate the unease felt as the story unfolds. Barker’s masterful direction and Navarrette’s performance turn this into one of the most memorable horror films in recent years.
Obsession is part of the 2026 Seattle International Film Festival lineup and opens in theaters on May 15.
