Evan Twohy’s absurd comedy Bubble and Squeak is not quite at the level of the films of Yorgos Lanthimos or Quentin Dupieux, but I was on board with it for the most part.
The comedic acting this type of film requires is not as easy to pull off as some might think. Himesh Patel and Sarah Goldberg do a great job portraying a couple accused of smuggling cabbages into a country where they are illegal.
There were funny moments, just not frequent enough to make it hilarious and there were also some misses. It is still a promising debut and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next from Twohy.
