Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple is a fascinating and comprehensive documentary on the legendary Little Steven. It starts with his early life in New Jersey and takes an in-depth look at his entire career. His time with the E-Street Band, his own band The Disciples of Soul, his acting roles in The Sopranos and Lilyhammer, and his activism, which was instrumental in ending the apartheid, are all covered.
He is on the screen throughout the film and narrates his own story. There are contributions from Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Bono, David Chase, and many other important people in his life. His relationship with his wife Maureen, who also played his character Silvio’s wife on The Sopranos, is awe-inspiring. Bill Tech’s film is worthy of this admirable man.
