Not everything is going that well for Ace, the protagonist of $ECK’s NYC film SO FAR ALL GOOD. We follow the hustler, who just got out of jail, as he tries to contact his MIA girlfriend Maya and make some much needed money, and confronts many characters along the way.
It is shot using a lot of close-ups, shaky camera, and motion blur à la Chungking Express. The visuals are accompanied by a vibrant free jazz and Afro-Cuban soundtrack. $ECK co-wrote the film with his lead Rasan Kuvly and shot, edited, and directed it himself.
It is skillfully crafted experimental cinema that manages to be accessible and relatable.
