Jim Sheridan and David Merriman’s jury deliberation drama RE-CREATION takes its cues from 12 Angry Men. It’s a fictional account since the real murder case never went to trial in Ireland.
Sheridan plays the wise head of the jury, Vicky Krieps is the skeptical Juror #8 and John Connors is the annoying, angry Juror #3, who just wants to quickly give a guilty verdict and head home. Some news footage is incorporated and there are brief glimpses at Colm Meaney as the suspect and Aiden Gillan as the prosecutor, but the bulk of the film takes place in the jury room.
The performances, especially Krieps’ and Connors’, are excellent, the case is intriguing, and it’s a fast-paced 90 minutes.
