The 51st Seattle International Film Festival starts tonight with Darren Thornton’s opening night film FOUR MOTHERS starring James McArdle and Fionnula Flanagan.
The often hilarious crowdpleaser has the heart and humor we’ve come to expect from the best of Irish comedies. It also successfully avoids some of the pitfalls of the genre thanks to strong character development and a realistic approach to its relationships. Flanagan is stellar here in a non-verbal role using her eyes, gestures, and facial expressions.
In person screenings will take place May 15-25, followed by online screenings May 26-June 1, 2025. Here’s a list of the lineup:
