DON’T YOU LET ME GO from directors Leticia Jorge and Ana Guevara is a wonderful little film in which Adela, who just lost her best friend Elena, boards a bus to travel in time and spends one last weekend with her, their mutual friend Luci, and Luci’s infant son Paco by the beach.
Building up on that idea, which most of us at one point or another had wished we could experience with someone we lost, Jorge and Guevara create a tender narrative with several magical realist flourishes.
Cherishing your loved ones might be an obvious advice, but one that we often need to be reminded of. Any film that does that in such a beautiful and touching way is worth seeking out.
