Tilman Singer’s CUCKOO is a creepy, bonkers horror movie in a year full of good ones.
Hunter Schafer is wonderfully vulnerable as a teenager, who just lost her mother. Dan Stevens is a hoot as the goofy, fiendish German hotel owner. The sound and production designs are exceptional. If you can get past parts of the plot, which is too convoluted for its own good, there is a lot of fun to be had.
Some of the horrifying images will likely stay with you for a while and the final showdown is exciting and amusing.
Cuckoo is starting in U.S. theaters on August 8th.
