In Frelle Petersen’s HOME SWEET HOME, divorced home care worker Sofie tries to balance her new job taking care of the elderly with parenting her 10-year-old daughter Clara. She starts the job enthusiastically, but the hectic nature of it and having to deal with difficult people soon take a toll on her.
Petersen could have told the same story in a stress-inducing manner similar to İlker Çatak’s The Teachers’ Lounge or Eric Gravel’s Full Time, but chooses to take a gentler approach instead where we feel Sofie’s ups and downs every step of the way.
It’s an empathetic and realist film about the underappreciated among us that includes many touching moments.
